A Special Christmas Message from CEO, Denise Harris

On behalf of the wider team here at Harris Group, I would like to wish you a very happy and safe Christmas and to extend our very best wishes for the New Year.

During this season, I am always reminded of our founder, my late husband Pino and his generosity to others. Through our Christmas Box Fund, we are proud to be able to continue to support organisations throughout Ireland who do so much good in our communities but face great challenges as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Under the leadership of Brother Kevin, The Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People provides a lifeline for the most needy by providing essentials such as meals, grocery parcels, medical assistance, baby supplies, and even haircuts. Likewise, The People’s Food Bank in Bluebell helps to feed the hungry by delivering 2.4 tonnes of groceries to more than 300 households weekly in Dublin and as far reaching as Dundalk.

While we must all do our best to help those who have been affected by Covid 19, we must not forget people who endure other health challenges, too. That is why I am pleased to support The Galway Hospice Foundation, which provides a supportive environment for people facing an uncertain and often lonely journey as well as providing compassionate palliative care where necessary.

Youth education and the performing arts are close to my heart, and this sector has endured a year of cancelled live events and even rehearsals. That is why I am delighted to continue our support for the Cork Youth Orchestra, with a 100+ youth membership, who are now looking forward to a safe return to rehearsal after a 9-month hiatus.

Last but not least, I was deeply moved by the plight of Dublin Zoo as highlighted in the media. So in lieu of buying Christmas gifts for our friends, we have adopted Dublin Zoo animals and are donating a MAXUS Deliver 9 van for the Zoo’s use. This esteemed Irish institution, which has played an important role in the lives of our children, is struggling significantly. The Zoo is internationally renowned for its commitment to the wellbeing of its residents and its leadership in essential conservation programmes. This gift will help ensure that our children will live in a world where wildlife is not a distant memory.

Christmas is a special time of year, no doubt. The abundance of generosity and time spent with family gives us much to be thankful for. It’s impossible to say what 2021 will bring, but here at Harris Group we will remain devoted to serving you, and helping you stay on the road.

From our family to yours,

Merry Christmas.

Denise Harris
